Paksitani SAM site upgrades

Recent changes at an important PAF SAM site

This Pakistani Air Force Surface To Air Missile site is located 14 km west of Nuur Khan Airbase and 11 km east from Khan Research Laboratories. A battery of HQ-2 SAM (copy of Soviet S-75) was deployed here for many years. With a range of 30-35 km, it defended these two important installations as well as many others including HQ of Pakistani Air Defence Command in Rawalpindi.

Pakistani SAM site, possibly HQ-16 or HQ-9

Oct 2025: 4 missile pits, out of original 6.

It seems like this SAM site now hosts Chinese HQ-16/LY-80 now. Could be HQ-9 too, but there’s not information to be be certain. Coverage area is now 40 km. IAF was still able to hit Nuur Khan Airbase during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, but that’s a story for another time.
