Pakis built a lot of border posts along Afghan border using American doles. Since then, these have been used by Paki army to get their cut from the drug, weapon and human trafficking in the region.
They tried to copy the basic layout of Indian border posts along LoC, but not quite. Unlike Indian posts which are meant to stop infiltration of muslim terrorists from Pakistan, Paki posts usually don’t have overlapping fields of fire and reinforced bunkers are much fewer in number. Supply line are also quite long and transport infrastructure is quite poor.
It is OK as long as they only want to keep an eye on smuggling to ensure they get paid. But for an armed adversary, it is not that difficult to isolate and neutralise them.
But Pakistanis are ruthless and unlike Americans don’t care about collateral damage, as well as own causalities as long as the generals and their lackeys get paid.
Same goes for Taliban, who are just Paki army without uniforms and alcohol. Interesting times ahead.
